Today I’m running a content audit for our main site. Once you start creating content you want to review it after about a year. Our goal is to see what posts are still relevant, what posts can we improve on with more information, and what posts didn’t do anything and might just need to be scrapped for left alone.
This is probably just as important, or even more important, than creating new content. Especially with all the signals that Google has for fresh content.
It’s also great for the readers. They should be reading outdated content from our site.
So I’ll use Income School’s battleship method, but really there are tons for content audits that you can use to update your content. Ahrefs has a good article about it as well.
Once we do the audit, then we’ll spend the week updating what needs to be updated for the site. We’ll also update any titles with 2020 in them and change them to the current year.
You can also use something like AIOSEO that will automatically change the years in the title if you set it up correctly. I’ll probably use the plugin to set the dynamic date for all our titles so next year I don’t have to worry about that.
